Foo Fighters – Gold Coast – Metricon Stadium – 2011

December 11th, 2011 No comments

Last night Kylie and I headed to the Gold Coast for the Foo Fighters concert. The concert was at Metricon Stadium and it was a cracker. The concert really was outstanding, with a good variety of the Foo Fighters new music and some of the older stuff I was really looking forward too. You’d have to be very hard to satisfy if you didn’t like what was played last night.

Dave Grohl was quite the entertainer, full of energy and engaged with the audience throughout the show. Grohl told a story about being arrested for drunk driving on a scooter after a “Big Day Out” concert years ago. I also loved the way he and Taylor Hawkins mucked around and teased the crowd about the number of songs which they would play during the encore.

This video is from the concert, not shot by me, but is of one of the better songs from the concert. Generator.

The setlist for the Foo Fighters Gold COast 2011 show can be found – http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/foo-fighters/2011/metricon-stadium-gold-coast-australia-4bd1230a.html

I found a couple of articles reviewing the concert:

The review on the Gold Coast Bulletin. Another review can be found on the triple m website

When the Foo Fighters next come back, I’ll be sure to get tickets again.

the numbers don’t lie…. It’s been nearly a month since our last entry, which is a little mad. So, what have we been up to!?

Lot of planning for our trip to the US. I feel sorry for those shops in Manhattan, Kylie has maps, she has plans, she has goals – she’s really looking forward to it. I am too – Kylie’s found some great shops for me too.

Lot’s of work Both Kylie and I have been very busy at work, with only 7 weeks until we’re out of action for a while, there is a lot to be done before we leave.

Powderchair concert Kylie and I went along, with Courtney (a work friend of Chris’s) to see the powderfinger and silverchair concert. What a great concert! I was a little so-so on the silverchair guys – though “straight lines” might have been the best song of the night! Powederfinger were awesome, it was the first time we had seen them, but i reckon I will get along to just about any concert they’re in brissie for. very good concert, very much enjoyed the night.

Father’s day: I enjoyed another great father’s day. Kylie took both myself and her dad to gold class movies to see the new Bourne movie – stacks of action and a nice morning. We then had a barbie down at Thompson’s beach with my dad and mum. thanks kylie and jacko!

Fire in a warehouse article Yesterday morning we were out and about doing some errands we drove past this, it must have been just as it was starting. I saw a little bit of smoke and one fire engine and some people walking out of the factory. When we went to drive past about 20 minutes later, the road was shut and you could see flames shooting into the air, a huge plume of smoke and choppers flying overhead (media??). Nasty work – sad that some people lost so much of their belongings and business – hopefully they were properly insured.

only 48 days until we set off….
